Our newest member of the family, Piper. She was born on Oct 16, weighing in at 7lbs 6oz via c-section after my blood pressure had reached a dangerous 140/100. Later that afternoon, Piper was admitted to the Level II nursery at McMaster Children’s Hospital for low blood sugar where she was put on an IV. While in the nursery she started experiencing bradycardia’s (low heart rate dips) and apneas (stopped breathing) and so she was kept in the nursery until they could determine what was causing these spells and she stopped having them. After several tests including: 2 ECG’s, 2 cardiology consults, 1 genetics consult and lab work-up to rule out Turner & Nunes Syndromes, 1 head ultrasound, 1 abdominal ultrasound and a chest x-ray it was determined that everything was fine. After 2 weeks in the hospital we were finally able to bring our baby girl home. We continue to see a paediatrician on a regular basis to ensure there aren’t any long-term problems from the spells she experienced early on. She is now 3 months old and thriving. Here is a pic of her showing off her DryBees AIO last month.
